01Acceptance of terms
By installing, accessing, or using the Claude Code Chat extension (the “Extension”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Extension.
02Description of service
Claude Code Chat is a Visual Studio Code extension that provides a chat interface for interacting with Claude AI through the Claude Code CLI. The Extension includes features such as:
- Chat interface for Claude AI interactions
- Conversation history and session management
- File context integration and image support
- Checkpoint and backup system using Git
- Tool execution with permission controls
- Model Context Protocol (MCP) server support
03Prerequisites and dependencies
To use this Extension, you must have:
- Visual Studio Code 1.80 or later (or a compatible editor such as Cursor)
- Claude Code CLI installed and configured
- Active Claude API key or Anthropic subscription (Pro/Max plan)
- Internet connection for the Claude AI service
04User responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your Claude API credentials
- Complying with Anthropic’s Terms of Service and Usage Policies
- Using the Extension in accordance with your organization’s policies
- Reviewing and approving tool execution permissions
- Backing up important data before using experimental features
- Monitoring API usage and associated costs
05Prohibited uses
You may not use the Extension to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe upon intellectual property rights
- Generate malicious code or security exploits
- Bypass security measures or access controls
- Share or expose sensitive or confidential information
- Abuse or overload the Claude AI service
06Intellectual property
The Extension is licensed under the MIT License. You retain ownership of your code and data. Claude AI responses are subject to Anthropic’s terms. The Extension’s source code is available on GitHub.
07Data and privacy
All conversation data is stored locally on your machine within your VS Code workspace. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data. However, your interactions with Claude AI are subject to Anthropic’s Privacy Policy. See our Privacy Policy for detailed information.
08Disclaimers
THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE EXTENSION WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED.
09Limitation of liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DATA LOSS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR LOSS OF PROFITS, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE EXTENSION, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
10Refund policy
Non-refundable items
- API usage costs already incurred with third-party providers
- Setup fees for custom enterprise configurations
- Charges for services used beyond the refund period
- Refunds requested due to violation of these Terms
11Updates, termination & governing law
We may update the Extension and these Terms at any time; continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it. These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the Extension developer is located, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

In short
By using Claude Code Chat you agree to these Terms. The Extension is MIT-licensed, provided “as is”, stores your data locally, and requires the Claude Code CLI plus an active Anthropic plan. Your Claude AI usage is also governed by Anthropic’s terms.
